1. Website Development (6)
Yes, we would be happy to look at your existing website and give you a quote for updating or re-designing it.
In our experience over the past 18 years a meeting isn’t necessary and all of our clients’ websites are completed with contact via email and/or our ‘Live Chat’ system only. We place drafts of the website design onto a private webpage where only yourselves and us can view it. We then communicate with you regularly during the process to discuss the progress until the design and functionality are exactly as you wish.
We fully support every website we design and host and are always at your service should you require any modifications. We have a 24 hour response policy once you contact us with any changes you need.
Yes, it can. We can install a ‘CMS’ (content management system) on your existing website, or develop your new one with CMS already installed. Just let us know.
Does my website have to be hosted by Moran Dan if I want it linked to CapeBretonIsland.com or your other websites?
No, you do not have to host with us. If you do, your links throughout our network of Cape Breton websites are included in the hosting fee. If you don’t, we simply charge you a single $96/year for as many links as are relevant to your website.
Yes, we design all our clients’ websites to be ‘search engine optimized’ and as a bonus, your website benefits from the excellent exposure of our own websites that you are automatically linked to. The minute you are linked to, for example, capebretonisland.com (which enjoys #1 placement in search engines), your site will then be catalogued on Google’s very next crawl through the web. Search engines scan your webpage and gather the words within each page into their databases. You can help us help the search engine to give you higher rankings by choosing the wording for your main page carefully. Select words and phrases that you want to be found in searches with. i.e. If you are a B&B on the waterfront in Louisbourg, be sure to say so, so that if someone is searching for a “B&B on the waterfront in Louisbourg”, it will be sure to come up near the top of the results. Put yourself in the traveller’s mind and come up with the words people will be using to find a business like yours.
2. Domain Names (2)
It is not a requirement for your website to have a domain name, but we strongly recommend it. If you do not have one, your website URL (address) will be attached to whichever one of our domains is appropriate. i.e. if you are a company in Ingonish, your URL would be in the form of ‘www.ingonish.com/yourcompanyname’. There are plenty of advantages to owning your own distinct domain name, the most important one being… in the event that any of our domains are discontinued, you would not be affected. Or, if you decided to host your website at a different service, likewise, there would be no affect to your website address. Having your own domain name also adds to a trusted, professional image of your business.
We can look after acquiring a domain name for your website. We will search for the most appropriate domain name and register it in your name (you will become the registered owner) and Moran Dan Productions will be the administrative and billing contact. There is an annual fee of $50 for us to host, maintain and administer your domain name on our servers where your website resides. This fee includes the annual registration renewal required by the domain registrar company.
3. Email (2)
Because of barrage of spam (junk email), and scams on the web these days we highly recommend not displaying your email address on the website. Instead we advise using a contact form with a security code (Captcha) to ensure only humans (not spambots) can send you a message from your website.
Yes, if you opt for having a domain name for your website (highly recommended) then you can have a variety of email addresses attached to that domain. For example: email@example.com ; firstname.lastname@example.org ; email@example.com ; Fred@yourdomain.com … whatever you like. These emails can each be configured to be delivered to your own personal email address.
